Everest 2023 Expedition Dispatches

Dispatch #7 – May 24, 2023 – Kathmandu

All the team members are now back home and all the Sherpa staff on their way back to Kathmandu or their respective villages.

The weather was not as good as it was last year, therefore it took us 35 days, Kathmandu to Kathmandu, to climb the "Big E" this year.

Dispatch #6 – May 22, 2023 – Kathmandu

We are now all back in Kathmandu after taking choppers from base camp this morning.

Some of the team members have been able to change their flights home and will leave Kathmandu this evening.

Dispatch #5 – May 20, 2023 – Camp Two

The entire team reached the summit yesterday, the 19th between 4am and 6am. We all descended to the col and some of the team descended to camp two later that day.

We will all return to base camp tomorrow.

Dispatch #4 – May 10, 2023 – Base Camp

We are all now back at base camp making plans for our next foray up the mountain.

Dispatch #3 – May 5, 2023 – Base Camp

After three days of bad weather and allowing some time for the snow to consolidate, we decided to go up to Camp One and Camp Two for an acclimatization rotation. We left base camp at midnight and are resting comfortably at Camp One.

We intend to spend a single night at Camp One and then a couple of nights at Camp two before returning to base camp.

Dispatch #2 – April 22, 2023 – Base Camp

The entire team is now at base camp. Today, April 22, was an auspicous day, so the puja ceremony was held this afternoon. Hopefully, we will have some pictures to post tomorrow on either or all of social media: Instagram, Facebook and Twitter.

Dispatch #1 – April 11, 2023 – Kathmandu

Our Sherpa crew is now at base camp establishing the camp in anticipation of our climber’s arrival. Our team members will arrive in Kathmandu this weekend and will then chopper up the Khumbu and start their leisurely trek to base camp.

As always the Junkies Everest team has many different nationalities represented once again and we hope to have similar weather to what we had last year, allowing us to make an early summit attempt.
