Ishinca Route

The trail to Ishinca sees us take the trail towards Ranrapalca and then we head on the left hand side of Laguna Ishinca. The trail starts out mellow and then steepens slightly once we approach the Ishinca Glacier. The walk to the glacier takes 3-4 hours from base camp.

Once we enter the glacier the route takes gentle slopes of the North-West Ridge and the summit is gained with a short 60 degree section to the summit.

Descent is made by the South-West Ridge for a full traverse of the mountain. The ascent from the edge of the glacier can take anywhere from 2-3 hours with the descent to base camp taking 3-5 hours.
